Ooo there was an option to change the reply to the discuss list ? Well if
it's still possible then I pretty much think it needs done asap.
Expecting someone, anyone, to go 'oh look, an announce email, I must hit
reply then delete the announce email and put in the discuss email' is a use
case that seems pretty silly, tech audience or not. It might sound simple,
it may sound like a proper use of the internet that everyone should know,
but its not. I currently haven't paid any attention to what email it has
come through. And it would be nice for it not to be an issue.
There are people who wish to be tech savvy and get scared off because when
they try, they get abuse off the tech savvy for not knowing such "simple"
things and end up going and hiding and not getting properly educated.
In my tech savvyness I remembered the etiquette of... ive forgot the
technical term.. but cutting and pasting my reply to not be at the top like
all my email clients do naturally.
But I must say the rant felt totally over the top, even tho the point was
just. And id like for people not to be scared away from the group because
of such things. It's not a pleasant way to treat your members, directors
and other public. A simple reminder to the perpetrator may have sufficed,
or, as carl suggested a while back when he for sore the issue, an
alternative fix in place. Or next I can imagine a whacking great sign on
the website saying 'if you cant use the Internet properly then we don't
want you.'
