Hi,
I've decided that I'll leave all my S3970 motherboards in their ATX
pedestal cases because after attempting to install one in a 2U server
case last night I realise it's not really practical to re-box them.
It pains me to scrap all the CPU's and RAM from the 2U servers, so
I had a look on eBay and I can get replacement motherboards for £20:
> http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Arima-RioWork-HDAMA-Dual-AMD-Opteron-Server-Motherboard-/260755977536?pt=UK_Computing_LaptopMotherboards_CPUs_CA&hash=item3cb6447540
I'm willing to buy replacement socket-940 motherboards from eBay and
re-use the existing socket-940 CPU's and RAM that I stripped from the
faulty motherboards last night.
That will mean that the "Space" cluster won't be VM-capable, but we will
still have six at dual 2-core Opteron 200's with 8GiB RAM in the rack, and
a few spare dual single-core Opteron 200's with 8GiB RAM.
Please let me know what you think?
Tony.
