Subject: Re: [57north-discuss] hackerspace and repair cafe report

This is an interesting idea - definitely with some consideriation we could integrate this into the space - have a dedicated, advertised night every month or every two weeks or something. We've probably got all the relevant kit between us to do this in-space and 'on the road' too - it would be great to introduce people to repairing 'damaged' equipment.
Naturally, we'd have to persuade people to do it themselves, not come to us to do it for them (standard lug install day issues of liability and "you broke my computer" 8 months down the line issues)

Blueskying, if we can pull in funding from somewhere (government, council, etc?) to support the space and get some effort into making a 'mobile community lab' as a method of supporting this, we could take to public-facing events (university days and the like) and also keep within the space, it'll be great. It could raise awareness/boost membership/etc.

Possible funding could be:

Awards For All (lottery funding) http://www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/awardsforallscotland
