I had an account on the SDF diaspora node. I thought it was a bit dreadful
tbh. Then again, I never really saw the point in Facebook to begin with.
When you take away all the psychological pressures to stay on the site and
look at the adverts, it tastes a bit like cardboard.
That being said, this was quite a while ago, and I'd be happy to set up
(assuming it's not too hard) a diaspora node on hackr for you to experiment
with.
I think I'd be more interested though in setting up a federated GNU social
(microblogging) system like https://status.fsf.org/.
