The old codebase is only a problem if we want to change things.  If we could just fix the minor bugs that Bob left us with we'd be happy.

As for the PHP 5.2, I got our ISP to download an "unofficially maintained" copy that still gets security updates.  We're running it on a VPS under Ubuntu Server 14.04LTS.
