Well let's find a way to not exclude gmail users because that seems
batshit insane.

It's been quietly raised to me that when Yahoo implemented this, El Goog
had to rework a wee bit of Groups to keep it working for people in this
manner:

Is implementing something like this a possibility until a better
solution comes along? I appreciate it might not be standards compliant,
but I'd rather see people able to communicate with us than an RFC being
followed to the absolute letter.
Outright banning people from interaction with the space because of
their choice of email provider seems like a really unreasonable action
to take. Further to that, requesting they change providers to enable
them to talk to us is also a pretty mad request - people don't work like
that. We like the path of least resistance, and not everyone we're going
to have as members will be in a position to have a 'better' email provider
for a variety of reasons it's not worth diving into.
