[57north-discuss] Auto closing the space

In the interest of having the space status be lies a bit less often I
have some plans to automatically update it to closed when people
forget.
I have a motion sensor that looks like it should cover most of the
space. I plan to connect this to the arduino on doorbot and have it
save the last time it saw motion. The doorbot PC will then have
something periodically polling that and if the time since last motion
is high enough (30 minutes?) it will announce that it is going to
close the space. If someone is there they should wave at the sensor
then - if it still doesn't see any motion in some more time (5
minutes?) it will update the status to closed.
I might also make it nag you to open the space if there is motion when
the space is closed (or maybe just assume we're being burgled and
summon the police (I'm sure they have a handy API)).
Does anyone have any strong objections to this level of surveillance
of the space?
This does split up into nice bite size modules if anyone else wants to
help.
Robert
