Could do that, i.e. have the ID server on one of the space VPSes, with
the LDAP database replicated to a local server in the space. OpenLDAP
supports both primary/replica and multi-master setups very well, so
we'd have options.

It'd be CAS for web-based stuff and LDAP for everything else - CAS is
sorta like very very simple OpenID for internal applications, and is
somewhat standard and supported by most web applications.
