Hello Hackers,

I am teaching a tutorial at EuroBSDCon in September, An Introduction to
hardware hacking with FreeBSD, and I am looking for volunteers to help
beta test the content (you won't get any hardware to keep).

https://2019.eurobsdcon.org/tutorial-speakers/#introduction-hardware-hacking

The tutorial is introductory, playing with gpio and serial devices on
FreeBSD. It should be accessible to anyone that can type, but
familiarity with a command line will help. No FreeBSD experience should
be necessary, but beta testing might reveal otherwise.

You will need a laptop with a USB A port, some sort of serial terminal
(putty, screen or cu will work) and if running windows or mac
willingness to install silicon labs usb serial drivers:

https://www.silabs.com/products/development-tools/software/usb-to-uart-bridge-vcp-drivers

I will also need a large block of time, the tutorial is 2-3 hours of
content so you will need at least three hours windowed out.

I want to test the content one person at a time (so I can maximise raw
experience).

If this sounds like something you would like to try out I plan to run
sessions this week; Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Monday (next Monday)
in the evenings and anytime this Saturday or Sunday.

If needed (or no one responds this time) I will also run more sessions
later in August (after camp) and in early September.

If you would like to try this tutorial out, please get in touch with me
directly and we can figure out a time.

Thanks for reading
